Junior Professional Officer (JPO)
Die Bundesregierung hat mit mehr als 40 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als JPO geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber*innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.
Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben.

Junior Professional Officer (JPO), Associate Professional Officer (Forestry), Rome
Sector/Unit: Forestry Division (NFO)
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year.
Please note that for participants of the JPO-Programme three years of work experience are mandatory!
Main duties and responsibilities (Examples):
- Collect and analyse relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related information, data and/or statistics to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services.
- Undertake analysis, provide technical input for plans and reports and edit/revise technical/scientific documents.
- Participate in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems.
- Update databases and web pages.
- Participate on multi-disciplinary project/work teams.
- Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars etc.
- Participate in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the development/production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners.
- Assist with implementation of the FAO-led activities in the follow-up to the Call to Action on Forest Education.
- Support the engagement of youth.
- Provide support for research, publications and other materials, communications and outreach activities on forest education, training and capacity development.
- Support in the implementation of the project “strengthening institutional capacities to train the next generation of forest and farm producers and practitioners”, (GCP /GLO/1243/GER).
- Support work related to forest education and training at national, regional and global levels.
- Support the organization of country and regional forest education and practical training -related activities and initiatives.
- Support the organization of national, regional and global policy dialogues and discussions.
- Support the organization of capacity building workshops.
- Assist with donor resource mobilization and project formulation on practical training and forest education-related themes.
Profile of qualification:
Education:
- Master’s degree in forest and/or natural resources management, sustainable development, or a related field.
Experience:
- Three years of relevant experience in natural resources management, capacity development/education and community- based forestry including work with indigenous peoples and/or other local communities.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable.
- Experience in collaborating with other UN agencies and relevant international stakeholders.
Key Competencies:
- Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish.
- Collecting and analysing technical information and data;
