Junior Professional Officer (JPO)
Die Bundesregierung hat mit mehr als 40 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als JPO geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber*innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.

Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben.

Junior Professional Officer (JPO), Logistics Officer, Dakar
Sector/Unit: RBD Logistics
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year. 
Please note that for participants of the JPO-Programme two years of work experience are mandatory!


Main duties and responsibilities (Examples):

  • Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes.
  • Support or manage logistics projects or operational activities and contributing to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Collect and analyse data through research and networking to recommend actions to senior staff to improve performance of local logistics operations.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to senior staff to optimise use of available funds.
  • Contribute to consolidation and preparation of operational pipeline planning, and to the management of operational aspects of the supply chain.
  • Contribute to supply chain by providing technical support and guidance to other CO unit/ services, divisions, particularly for emergency response.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries .
  • Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and staff to support an integrated approach to food assistance.
  • Participate in the on-going review of internal processes and procedures and identify ways to increase the day-to-day efficiencies.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity to meet emergency food assistance needs.

Profile of qualification:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Transport economics, Supply Chain management, Data science, Business management, Engineering or related fields.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends is desirable.
  • Experience in dealing with shipments and clearing imports/exports with customs officials is desirable.
  • Experience coordinating procurement and transportation processes is desirable.
  • Experience in warehouse and commodity management is desirable.
  • Experience working with corporate systems (databases, software) is desirable.

Key Competencies:

  • Fluency in English and intermediate Level (B2) in French.
  • Proficiency in Windows MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
