Junior Professional Officer (JPO)
Die Bundesregierung hat mit mehr als 40 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als JPO geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber*innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.
Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben.

ITU – JPO, Planning and Coordination Officer, Geneva, Chiffre Nr. 2026-1-10
Junior Professional Officer (JPO), Planning and Coordination Officer, Geneva
Sector/Unit: Executive Office
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year.
Please note that for participants of the ITU JPO-Programme three years of work experience are mandatory!
Main duties and responsibilities (Examples):
- Coordinate the planning and follow-up strategy in the Executive Office.
- Review and improve the existing business processes.
- Provide support to the executive briefing and debriefing process, by organizing, conducting, and tracking follow-ups to the SG/DSG’s meetings.
- Support external affairs activities through the coordination of inputs and follow-ups with expert teams.
- Conduct background research as required ahead of SG’s meetings and speaking events.
- Organize and centralize information on developments with engagement of ITU members and partners.
- Maintain SharePoint lists/databases designed to track the implementation of decisions of management committees and groups.
- Maintain databases on engagement and relationships with ITU members and partners.
- Liaise, regularly follow-up and coordinate with relevant ITU staff.
Profile of qualification:
Education:
- Master’s degree in international relations, political science, business, or related fields.
Experience:
- At least three years of experience in the field of the post and in managing office operations, streamlining and optimizing business processes.
- An advanced degree in a related field can be considered as a substitute for one year of working experience.
- A Doctorate in a related field can be considered as a substitute for two years of working experience.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish at advanced level and knowledge of a second official language at intermediate level.
- Knowledge of a third official language would be an advantage.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Passion for streamlining and optimizing business processes.
