Junior Professional Officer (JPO)
Die Bundesregierung hat mit mehr als 40 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als JPO geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber*innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.
Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben.

Junior Professional Officer (JPO) in Climate Action, Partnerships for the Goals, Bonn
Sector/Unit: Engagement, Climate Action Team
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year.
Please note that for participants of the JPO-Programme two years of work experience are mandatory!
Main duties and responsibilities (Examples):
- Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of the Article 6 Capacity Building work programme. Identify technical solutions and digital tools to deliver tailor-made capacity building solutions to governments and other stakeholders and co-implement these.
- Strengthen the identification, development, and management of strategic partnerships and the impactful cooperation and effective coordination with external partners.
- Facilitate efficient and effective cross-unit and cross-division cooperation for synergetic and coherent results and promote seamless workflows and productive working relations with the Regional Collaboration Centres.
- Co-develop high-quality, user-friendly, and targeted capacity building modules, tools, and packages and support their digitization and presentation.
- Co-create internal and external communications. Creatively contribute to the further development and implementation of the communications strategy. Keep the website updated.
- Co-organize and co-facilitate global and regional events. Provide substantive input and advance coordination, follow-up, and strategic communications.
- Proactively suggest innovative and targeted knowledge products and cooperations. Identify and analyze activities, products, needs, best practices, and lessons learned from other actors.
Profile of qualification:
Education:
- Master’s degree in environmental studies, international relations, international law, economics, communications, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience, ideally in an international setting.
Key Competencies:
- Fluency in English.
- Work knowledge of another UN official languages is an asset.
- Diplomatic tact and political awareness.
