KURVE Wustrow conducts trainings, workshops and events in the field of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation at home and abroad. We send International Peace Workers as part of the “Civil Peace Service” (CPS) to selected conflict regions. For this purpose, KURVE Wustrow is closely cooperating with partner organisations in the Western Balkans, in the Middle East, Ukraine, Sudan and in South and Southeast Asia. With our training work in Germany we primarily empower activists in social movements and work together with them against nuclear power, racism and right-wing extremism.

"Working with Change Agents, Dealing with the Consequences of Violence, and Networking for a Social Transformation Process" 
we are looking together with our partner organisations Mote Oo Education and Minmahaw School/Education for Friendship Foundation for


a peace worker (f/m/d) in Mae Sot, Thailand (38,5 hours/week)


These are your tasks

As an integrated peace worker, you will support two partner organisations in developing peace and civic education trainings and classes for informal educational institutions and civil society organisations in Myanmar and the Thai/Myanmar border region, and together with the local peace workers of the respective team ensure PME in a challenging volatile environment.

Main areas of responsibility

  • In close collaboration with a team of trainers, support the design and preparation of in-person and online trainings in peace and conflict, active citizenship and other related topics, facilitate training sessions and develop teaching/learning materials for an online learning platform.
  • Advise on the implementation of a peace education curriculum with follow-up media-based and/or creative activities for students and provide capacity support to teachers as needed.
  • Support both partner organisations in project coordination and in conflict-sensitive and trauma-informed PME, including budgeting and finance reporting, as well as jointly developing M&E systems.
  • You will ensure the proper use of funds and reporting as well as regular communication with the CPS country coordination and the KURVE Wustrow main office. 

Skills you have

  • A relevant university degree (e.g. peace and conflict studies, social sciences or education) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS. 
  • Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad.
  • Relevant further training in the field of civil, non-violent conflict transformation and sound knowledge in this area. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context.
  • The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability.
  • Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
  • Track record in developing in-person and online trainings and teaching curricula, and experience as a trainer.
  • Experience in PME, including budgeting.
  • Good knowledge of the history of Burma/Myanmar and its implications for today’s political and social conflicts.
  • Very good English language skills and willingness to learn Burmese.

  • A full-time contract in accordance with the Development Workers Act (for EU citizens, EEA plus Switzerland) until 31.12.2027 (under the condition that the project will be prolonged by the BMZ after the end of 2026). Please note: The conditions of the German law for development aid workers precludes the application and deployment of citizens of the deployment countries.

  • An extensive preparation period in Germany, usually three to four months, starting on 01.02.2025.
